The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has announced that three Golden League meetings will be held in Anambra, Kaduna and Kwara states respectively in preparation for the forthcoming IAAF World Championships in Beijing, and the All-Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville in September.
The three-leg series have been scheduled to take place on June 11 at the Roojeny Stadium in Anambra, June 24 in Kaduna, and will culminate with a final meeting on July 11 in Ilorin, to be followed by the Warri Relays and CAA Super Grand Prix scheduled for July 24, and the AFN/CRS All Nigeria Athletics Championships taking place from July 30 to August 1 in Calabar, Cross River State.
AFN President, Solomon Ogba said, “After three All Comers meets in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt, the next level of preparation for the home based athletes will be the three-leg Golden League, so that they will be in top shape for the international relay and the All Nigeria Championships, which will serve as trials for the Beijing 2015 IAAF World Championships and the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo”.
Ogba thanked the National Sports Commission (NSC) for supporting AFN in its bid to organize a meet for the home based athletes. He called on senior athletes not to wait for either state associations or the national federation before they invest
in their career:
‘’Athletes all over the world belong to clubs and associations who take over their training and upkeep. When they compete in meets and earn money, or they win prize money in major games and championships, the clubs take a percentage. That is the standard all over the world, Nigeria cannot be an exception”.
He also urged the clubs and associations to take a cue from counterparts in other parts of the world, and run their clubs and association in line with the best global practices.
Will there be a multi-event competition (Decathlon, Heptathlon)?

In terms of the multievents, I see a lot of potential in Nigerian athletes in the multi’s due to our versatility and body type. I truly hope multievents will be more popular enough to be included in the future.
How does one go about registering for the promotional event?

Athletes are usually registered by their Clubs or State Associations.
what are the procedures??? and is there any arrangement for things Like transportation, Accommodation and feeding.. ???
No such arrangements were mentioned in the AFN’s release.
Please I will love to register but I don’t know how and where… Please help me out.
